Yesterday I spent the day birding Potholes State Park and Sun Lakes State
Park for migrating passerines.

Potholes was loaded with birds of every common variety. MacGillivray's,
Nashville, Wilson's, Yellow-rumped, Yellow, and Orange-crowned Warblers were
abundant. Warbling Vireos were prevalent and several Cassin's Vireos were
seen as well.
Since there were so many birds at Potholes State Park I decided to go to
Sun Lakes State Park. This park was also alive with migrants and a few
vagrants. The first bird seen was an American Redstart, and things simply
improved from there. Nashville, Orange-crowned, MacGillivray's, Yellow,
Common Yellowthroat, and Yellow-rumped Warblers were abundant at all
locations in the park. Eventually I was able to locate and photograph a nice
Black-throated Gray Warbler in the picnic area.
Warbling Vireos were everywhere, and even though there were fewer Cassin's
Vireo it was interesting to see the differences in individual plumage in
both species. I was able to locate one Red-eyed Vireo amongst the large
numbers of Warbling Vireos.

All in all a great day.
