Lots of Heerman's Gulls around Fort Worden State Park waterfront on Wednesday, August 29. I took the ferry from Port Townsend to Keystone, Whidbey Island on Thursday and, on the afternoon trip back to Port Townsend (after the dense fog had burned off) I saw a Tufted Puffin, a few small groups of Red-necked Phalaropes, and at least two Harbor Porpoise (others said there were about six of them). There were Common Murres, Rhinoceros Auklets, and Pigeon Guillemots as well.

The Harbor Porpoise caused great excitement among some of the ferry riders. I was so busy trying to find them in my camera that I wasn't able to concentrate on how many there might have been.
