Hello All,

This morning we had the opportunity to go north of Walla Walla up to the
Eureka Flats area with Ginger and Rodger Shoemake. The ground was covered
with about an inch of snow. We saw the following species of interest:

Rough-legged Hawk-8 birds
Horned Larks-3000+ of which 70% were arctic race birds in the same general
location as the thousands of horned larks.
LAPLAND LONGSPURS-18+ in with the larks- some were very bright plumaged.
This huge concentration of birds were all at one site and that was at the
junction of Sheffler and Lower Monumental Dam Rd.- which is west of Clyde in
central Walla Walla Co. We did some chumming along both roads by sprinkling
white millet along these roads so there will be birds along the road as long
as the snow lasts. It is going to warm up by Sunday and these birds will
move on then.
Later Mike
