Hello All,

MerryLynn & I just returned from watching and photographing the spectacular
adult Great Gray Owl south of Lowden, Walla Walla Co.. As we watched this
outstanding owl repeatedly fly down from fence posts as it actively hunted
for mice. Twice this big bird lit on posts within 20' of us as we sat in the
car. MerryLynn took photo after photo as this owl perched, dropped on prey
and stared at us. We watched this owl catch and swallow 4 microtine ( meadow
voles). So it is doing very well. We also watched as several Northern
Harriers took half hearted stoops at this huge owl and then flew out of the
area. For photos of the beautiful bird go to www.blumtn.org Now if it can
just keep from flying across the Lowden-Gardena Rd. and getting smacked by
some clueless driver going to fast and jabbering on a cell phone.

Later Mike
