Hello Tweeters,
I wish to thank all the birders who attended Patrick's memorial on Monday.Despite the bad weather with all the flooding going on in many areas especial North where I-5 was closed around Chehalis,this as alone a tragedy who all the people in Washington what got affected by the terrible Storm,and this before Christmas
One person what was affected was Wilson Cady who lives in Washougal.Wilson was one of the speakers and he knowing Patrick from Wenas,as we been attending this Audubon outing since 1985.Only we did miss this was the last two years,when Patrick decided to going for the spring Migration in Eastern Washington.We became well known in the town of Washtucna,and the people from the park allowed us to staying overnight in the famous park what had a natural spring running to the park.I will never forget the great times we had.Patrick got up so early being so concerned no to wake me,he set up the coffee for me,and than went on to birding on the hills.He found in the two years many rare Warbler and also photographed this birds.I am not a Warbler fan,but it exited me and I also got hooked to see some of the birds.I let Patrick take over photographing this birds ,since I was not able to get good photos of this birds being to slow.Last year we met Susan from Seattle all alone ,camped close to us.Susan was also a WOS member,and we talked became befriended and Patrick showed her the hill side where you find some good birds.I met Susan again at the memorial where she give me a card who she tanked Patrick and wrote some touching words about the feeling and experience she share with me about the illness Patrick had.Thank you Susan to sharing this with me and we probable meet again at this so called HOTSPOT for spring and Fall Migration.
Getting a little off here I like to thank Fay Adams (Hand) from the Tahoma Audubon who was the speaker for Patrick talking about the Illness of Bipolar.Fay is working at Western States and dealing with patients as a counselor,her speech was touching and let some tears flowing,she left some pamphlet's going explaining what Bipolar is and how to deal with this mental disorder.She also talked about Patrick the birder and how much he involved him in this great Hobby ,it became his whole life.Thank you Fay for such a detailed speech to honor Patrick.
Also a" BIG THANK YOU" to Michael Hobbs, who showed a SLIDESHOW of Patrick's photos fixing this photos up from the disk I sent from raw.this had to take hours to do,and all the photos looked so good.AS he showed the photos Music was playing quietly picking a song from the album "FALLING IN TO YOU"
By Celine Dion "LEAVING THIS EARTH,FLYING AWAY" It was touching ,with all the candle lid.it was so special thinking of a song like this.This planed Memorial was so organized in all the details by many WOS Members.
Of course Dennis Paulson give a tribute to Patrick,not forgetting me about the many County First of Dragonflies me and Patrick added to the state.Patrick was also good with Dragonflies and Butterflies,Patrick found a nice Dragonfly on the small creek what runs to Washtucna "THE RIVER JEWELWING" where we photographed this attractive species.This was the only one we ever saw around,when you find this particular species there are usual in colonies and there is no water around for miles,it was a highlight for both of us. Dennis speech was touched many occasions on what he mention.Patrick always was eager to going to visit Dennis when I ask him to going with me to see Dennis. Thank you Dennis for the kind words speaking of Patrick.Also talking about you mother comparing me and you mother how can I forget this,I was thinking about this a lot and took it to my heart
Thank also Wilson Cady for the speech he wrote,sending it by E-mail to Michael Hobbs.He wrote and remembrance the day in Ridgefield long time ago,as we birded with Dave Hayden,looking for the White Ibis.We running in to Wilson Cady and his Wife.As we standing Patrick mention some Ibis in the distance,we all looked,but did not seeing nothing,,not a speck but than we spotted some large birds coming closer and settle close to us what where a group of White faced Ibis.
Patrick mention there are coming from Woodland,Cady as he came home researched the distance what was 18 miles.This occasion came up in many times,but Wilson remembered so good that he included this in his speech,how remarkable this is.Thank you Wilson for remember this moment of Patrick.
And a special" BIG THANK YOU" is going to my friend (yes we became friends) to this tragedy loosing Patrick in such young Years of his life.But the more I thinking of this decease the more I accept his lost,and I always thinking of him to be in a better place where he is in peace looking down to me.
I wish to thank all the many birders who in the last months supported me that much,we living in a good society who people are caring
