Hi,
This morning, my brother Michael and I found a Red-tailed Hawk in the
Shillapoo Wildlife Area (by Vancouver Lake: take 4th Plain Blvd west
through downtown Vancouver, turn right on Fruit Valley Road, 3rd
stoplight turn left on La Framboise, continue thru the neighborhood
into the Shillapoo area). It was perched a few feet off the ground on
a brush pile, and allowed us to approach within 8 ft. without moving--
he watched us carefully though. The hawk wasn't guarding any prey,
and it didn't appear to be injured in any way. If any one wants to
investigate further and see if this bird needs help here's where to
find him (not sure he's still around but he didn't move the 15 minutes
we were there): follow the directions above to enter the Shillapoo
Wildlife Area, continue on that road until you reach a large parking
lot with a concrete restroom--just before the road turns to gravel.
He was on the right side of the road.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Benjamin
