Subject: [Tweeters] swan band

On Nov 29th I was doing swan surveys near Sumas, Washington. I found
a trumpeter swan with a neck band- yellow collar with black code Y48
This is of interest beyond just being an important band sighting because
this bird was not banded on the Pacific coast area. In other words, it
comes from some other place than the Pacific Coast Population of swans.
I have contacted all the usual and some nonusual people about who banded
the bird and where. So far, no one has stepped forward. The best educated
guess is that this is an Alberta, Canada swan.
So, if anyone knows who may be putting on yellow collars with black
codes on trumpeter swans please let me know.

And if anyone sees this bird again, please let me know as well. And if
anyone can get photos of the bird (mine are pathetic since I do not have a
great camera with a really good lens) please do so and send them to me.
This will be greatly appreciated.

Also, if any of you are out photographing swans, I will greatly appreciate
any photos of any swans with collars -- trumpeter or tundra. Not only am I
compiling a photo diary of the collared swans, it is wonderful to send a
photo of the bird people have adopted through our Adopt A Swan program.
Credit is given for all photos.

Thanks.
