hello tweets:

i'll try again in plain text, i hope:

there is an adult trumpeter with what looks like a young of the year child on the east
side of hwy 203 about halfway between the two ends of neal road just outside of fall city
heading toward carnation, in one of the field 'puddles' on the east side of the road. there
was a tundra adult on sikes lake a couple
weeks ago, so we do get the occasional big bird out here. the huge mixed foraging flock
of passerines is an on-again off-again sight on the other side of carnation going down
carnation farm road. lots of brewers and red-winged blackbirds, many varied thrushes,
etc. you may recall the rusty blackbird was seen at the dairy at the junction of 203 and
carnation farm road about a year ago, so it might be worth a look for that although i have
not seen it/them. there is a pair of american kestrels regularly working the north end of
sikes lake. lots of the sentinel trees around the lake blew down, so it will be
interesting to see what effect, if any, that has on the avifauna. the trestle bridge over
the north end of the lake was under water for several days, but is fine now. lots of
raptors in the area as well.

note: there is NO SHOULDER on 203 where the swans are. exercise caution and park in a
safe place and look from afar, or else get run over or ticketed.
