I know little about kingfisher migration, but have one data point to share.
We live on the eastside in Preston at about 1300 feet - no substantial body
of water anywhere nearby. For the first time in our f20 years here, we have
seen a kingfisher. For the last month it has made regular afternoon visits
to our tiny little garden pond that has (or had) a few goldfish. The pond
and fish have been there for 9 or 10 years and the only predators were some
raccoons and the occasional heron.
Wonder why this fellow (it is a male) has shown up this fall?

I know kingfishers occur in the Puget Sound area year-round, but are the
breeders resident or do they depart, to be replaced by migrants?
Please use REPLY ALL. Thanks.
