Hi tweets,
One more sighting to add to the discussion: a couple years back when I was
working for DNR (derelict vessel removal), we temporarily stored a fishing boat
in a Pierce County Public Works yard near Purdy. While I was waiting for
contractor's to come and view the boat, I strolled into the adjacent Douglas fir
forest and was almost immediately strafed by a large Gos. She dropped to
within a few feet of my head and only veered off when I looked directly at her.
She made a couple more passes, vocalized repeatedly and tracked with me as I
tried to find a quick way out. I'd suggest that was nest-defense behavior.
