I'm a backyard bird watcher in Sammamish, and would like to ask the
fine folks on this list a couple of questions about bird seed.
First, our bird visitors seem to prefer sunflower chips, which seem
to be fairly expensive. Who's got the lowest price for a 20-25# bag,
or are there bulk bin options that are even better? I've tried Wild
Birds Unlimited, Grange Supply in Issaquah, Lowes, etc. and don't
seem to find much difference in price.
Second, besides sunflower chips and black oil sunflower seed, what
might you feed the following birds: chickadees (pickiest), juncos,
nuthatches, flickers? We have a suet feeder which attracts all, plus
squirrel corn which pleases the jays. So I'm only talking about seed
here. BTW, our backyard is heavily treed, but not a proper woods.
Any responses would be most appreciated.
