Greetings All

The Snow Goose flock on Fir Island today hid an adult and an immature Blue
Goose and 2 minima Cackling Geese (and who knows what else). The Skagit Game
Range (Wiley Slough, if you will) had 4 WT Sparrows, 2 Am Tree Sparrows, and an
ad GC x WC Sparrow.

Lotsa duck hunters. Please, don't wear orange. Sounds counter-intuitive, but
unlike pheasant hunters, duck hunters aren't walking through chest high
growth, so can see you more easily. Also, I've found them far more tolerant of my
passing presence if I am not dressed like I am on fire. And, irrespective of
what one might feel about hunting, life is easier if we try to get along.
Besides, neon colors also tends to frighten away passerines as well as annoy hunters
of anatidae.

The Warm Beach Christian Center (park near stables and walk to "Canoe Launch"
area had a Great Egret, 21 Greater Yellowlegs, and a first-winter male Lesser
Scaup x RN Duck (scaup parent ID'd presumptively by wing-pattern).

Cheers
