Tweets - 20 birders (in 5 neat teams of 4) took part in the 3rd Annual
Cle Elum CBC today. We had better weather than last year, but it
was still very snowy.

We totalled 64 species, and nearly 4000 birds, a record.

Highlights:

Trumpeter Swans 2 in Cle Elum
Gadwall 2 in South Cle Elum
Ruffed Grouse 1 at Swauk Ranch (private)
Wild Turkey A record 322
Bald Eagle A record 23
Northern Harrier Two
Golden Eagle FOUR possible (at least 3)
Wilson's Snipe 1 in Cle Elum
Pygmy Nuthatch A record 65
Townsend's Solitaire Two
Dark-eyed Junco 880, more than doubling the record
Finches Record numbers for just about all species,
including Red Crossbill (74), Pine Siskin (103), American Goldfinch (249)
and Evening Grosbeak (57)

The best bird was a single SNOW BUNTING spotted by Ollie Oliver at a feeder
near McDonald Pond amongst the juncos.

We had some significant misses, though, especially Common Goldeneye and
Chestnut-backed Chickadee. Maybe we'll get some count week luck in the next
few days.

Thanks to all who helped out!!! Everyone seemed to have had a good time.
