Can anyone help me with the following?

I can view my photos with reasonable success on my standard TV by connecting
the camera directly to the TV, but when I transfer them to a CD at full
file size and view them through a DVD player the results are awful. They
look fine when I play the DVD on my computer so I think the problem is in
the DVD player or the connections.

I'm using conventional video cables; would S video or component video work
better? Or an HDTV ??
