I appeal to the birding community to be on the lookout for a Peregrine I lost while flying her on Friday, 28 December. About 3:30 P.M. she spiraled up into a cloud and I haven't seen her or heard from her radio since.

She is an adult, captive-raised bird of the type we call "California anatum", which means she is very richly colored on breast and belly. Her back is grayer than bluish, and her head is mostly black. She was wearing a silver-colored bell on each leg, and a radio transmitter on her right leg cuff. No jesses. The radio transmitter is about the size of the last digit of a small little finger, and it has a piece of yellow tape on it. The antenna is aobut 8 inches long and probably hard to see.

When last I saw her she was just over the Nisqually Valley, near the south rim not far from McKenna, a few miles from Yelm. Her behavior was not unusual up to the point of her disappearance. She is strong and was in the best of condition. I have searched for two days, including from an airplane yesterday, radio receiver in my lap, earphones on.

She has taken many ducks, but when I lost her in Montana a few years ago, she was found three days later at a pigeon loft 10 miles from where I lost her.

This bird and I have been together for nearly eight years, and of course I am desperate to find her or determine her fate. If you see or hear something of this bird, please contact me at 360-894-0751 or (cell) 451-0089. My email addresses are stevenherman at hotmail.com and hermans at evergreen.edu

Thank you very much.
