I remember at least one instance of a raccoon appearing to be asleep in a Bald Eagle's nest on one of the San Juan Islands. It was observed from an airplane during a Bald Eagle nesting survey. I can't remember any details but it seemed unusual at the time.

Hey Tweeters,
I am responding to Brenda's post about raccoons borrowing bird nests. A while back in may or June I also saw a raccoon in a nest. I was initially very surprised to see a large sleeping raccoon 50 feet up in a tree in a bird nest. But when I thought about it, it looked like a pretty comfy spot! I wonder if this happens alot...
