Tweets: So nice having a rarity "close to home." Today Victor Glick and
Libby, as well as Richard Hendrick and myself went to Grand Coulee to see
the gull. It was found about 1:30 on the booms behind the dam. What a
great bird for the last day of the year. Lifer for all of us.

On our way home, north on Hwy. #174, we were just coming to the sign that
says "Crown Point Vista", and saw a bird on the sign. It was a N. Hawk
Owl!
We spent about 1hr. viewing and photographing it. It was approx. 100
yards from the Douglas Co. line, but in Grant Co. (Maybe those signs are
not quite right...?) It flew to a fence post across the road, then higher
up the hill to a power pole. The last time it flew it went back across
the road to a green metal power pole. All spots farther into Grand Co.
Looked like plenty of mice/vole tracks, and it seemed to be hunting.
There are 3 different pull-outs nearby. If only I had seen in fly to the
sign. It HAD to have come from Douglas County. Meredith P.S. There
was also a N. Pygmy Owl in a bush nearby, and a Shrike and several
Black-capped Chickadees.
