Tweeters,
I thought some of you might find this article interesting -- the return
of a Laysan Albatross for the 14th year to Mendicino County, CA.
According to the local Audubon Society, it may be the only Layson
Albatross that can be seen while standing onshore in the continental US.

Al B. Tross reminds me of "Albert," the Black-browed Albatross that
visited the Shetland Islands for 23 or so years (1972-1995). Definitely
an attraction for the birders there.

The "Cove Coffee" shop at the Point Arena pier held a modest crowd,
with people sipping hot brew and peering at their newspapers shortly
after 7 a.m. Saturday. Then the front door was flung open.
"The albatross is back!" a young, bearded man announced. "Just saw
him come in and land."

May all your birds be identified,
