Sherry and I checked out a few spots today which included, Borst Park,
Goodrich Rd. and pond, and Bunker Creek Rd.
We started at Borst Park where we picked out 1 adult Thayer's Gull, 1
Herring Gull, and 1 Western Gull.
On to Goodrich Rd. and pond. The pond is half dried up, but there were
still good number of waterfowl about. Lots of Northern Pintails and
Northern Shovelers. About 150 Dunlin, 8 Black-bellied Plovers, and 1
Least Sandpiper. Along the trail, a pair of Bald Eagles sat in the tree
where the new nest is being built. A pair of American Kestrels worked
the field hunting. Sparrow numbers were way down. No Golden-crowned
Sparrows, 1 Junco, and a handful of Hosue Finches were seen. They used
to be very numorous the last two months. However, the Fox Sparrow was
still hanging out in the brambles, and the Scrub Jay is still around.
Next was Bunker Creek Rd. where we had 1 White-tailed Kite. It was 2.5
miles down Bunker Creek Rd. from Hwy 6, on the right side.
