I saw an odd gull at Ediz Hook in Port Angeles Saturday morning. Maybe some of you could help me out with this. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera, I'll try to make this as simple as possible:

-The bird matched all the features of a 3rd winter California Gull (per Sibley), only that its back was the color of a Slaty-backed Gull and its legs were light pink. The tip of the beak was all black, showing a slight red just behind the black.

There were multitudes of gulls present in its flock to make comparisons of size, and it was noticeably smaller than the many glaucous-winged and western gulls present which would rule out slaty-backed, although the bird most resembled a shrunken 3rd winter slaty-backed.

If you have any ideas of what this gull may be, or if you've seen it and have a hunch, please let me know!

Thanks,
