Took a late spin through Ridgefield NWR refuge a little before sundown and
had the following highlights.
1 male Cinnamon Teal from the photo blind
1 Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk at the last bend in the loop
Sandhill Cranes calling as they were flying south to roost
1 adult Herring Gull at the photo blind eating on something submerged in the
water--too far to see what it was
1 White-breasted Nuthatch at the photo blind not calling
1 Winter Wren hanging out in the edges of Marsh Wren habitat in the trees
beyond the photo blind
a small flock of Golden-crowned Kinglets in the same trees--I looked for the
Rusty Blackbird seen here earlier last Dec., but it must have moved on.
1 Yellow-rumped Warbler in the same trees
Also noted since 2 weeks ago that the Red-winged Blackbirds were setting up
territories
