Hi Jonathan,

Considering the area you are talking about is a regular hangout for a juvenile Bald Eagle (lots of white throughout its otherwise brown body), it is likely you saw this bird. I am at the Montlake Fill at least 3 times a week and have never seen a Golden Eagle there. Not saying it couldn't happen, but seems doubtful. The juvie Bald Eagle is a big bird, probably female by the size, and frequentl.y perches in the cottonwoods at that SE point. Still, it is a magnificent bird to see.

This Evening, my dad and I were walking through the monlake fill trying to get out of the rain when suddenly at the south east edge of the park I spotted a massive golden eagle! it was perched in a large deciduous tree near the water and every so often would look down at us . We are almost certain that it was a golden eagle becuase of its coulouring and overall shape. I have never heard of a golden eagle sighting in the fill, if anyone has i would like to read about it so please post it. I last saw the eagle take off and begin to fly across the lake towards the arboretum. if anyone sees it please le us know.
thank you
