Subject: [Tweeters] Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend

This weekend (Friday-Monday) is the 2007 Great Backyard Bird Count.?

Last year, Washington birders submitted 1544 checklists during the count, just shy of the record 1587 checklists submitted in 2001. Washington birders did report a record 206 species last year. Can both of these records be broken this year? What with Whooper Swans, eiders, and good gulls about, it would be fantastic to see 1800 checklists from Washington, and a record number of species reported.

So whatever else you do this holiday weekend, head out to your favorite winter birding spot, just count the birds in your yard (or better yet, do both!), and submit your bird sightings from each location each day to www.birdsource.org/gbbc. ?

And have fun!
