Feb 14,
A possible WESTERN KINGBIRD was reported Feb 12 north of Spokane. North of
Deer Park, turn right on Spotted Road. The observer is new to the area, but
seemed to know his birds. Go past Montomery Road & start looking. Of
course this is a couple months early, but if not a Western, then what?
Don't CASSINS KINGBIRDS migrate early? What happens to the TROPICAL
KINGBIRDS that come north on the coast in late fall?

An observer looking for the Deer Park GYRFALCON saw an immature GOSHAWK. Of
course there could be two birds. Pictures would be helpful. Would a
GYRFALCON perch in a tree when there is a tall power pole within a half
mile?

Two TRUMPETER SWANS have been seen a couple times along the Spokane River
upstream from Nine Mile Dam. Maybe this is the pair that spent last spring
at Turnbull NWR (which is still iced up).

In Lincoln Co, 4 SNOWY OWLS were seen Feb 10 in the Reardan/ Davenport area.
I don't know exactly where. (Jannet & Morrison?)

Good Birding,
