This afternoon I visited the Goodrich Pond and trail. The afternoon
consited of scattered sun breaks and showers, and even with the rain
this past week, the pond continues to slowly dry up. There were mostly
Northern Shovelers, and a few Green-winged Teals, Mallards, and 3
Dunlin. A small flock of American Wigeon were seen in the slough from
Wagner Rd. Raptors were also about today, 2 Northern Harriers, 1
American Kestel, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 1 Cooper's Hawk, and 3 adult Bald
Eagles. Four species of woodpeckers were found along the trail, 1
Northern Flicker, 1 Downy, 1 Hairy, and 1 Pileated. As for the river, 2
Common Goldeneyes and 5 Common Mergansers were seen. Other birds noted
were, 15 Golden-crowned Sparrows, 1 Brown Creeper, 1 Pine Siskin, 2
Scrub Jays, and 3 Tree Swallows.
