Washington is currently reporting 195 species on the Great Backyard Bird Count, down from the record high of 206 last year. A few species known to be in the state (Whooper Swan, Sooty Grouse, etc.) haven't been reported anywhere in North America yet this count.

Take a look at the Washington list to see what has been reported (linked from here: http://gbbc.birdsource.org/gbbcApps/top10). Also take a look at the overall list for North America: http://gbbc.birdsource.org/gbbcApps/maproom?cmd=browse&sppOrder=taxon. If you can fill in some missing species, please report them online at www.birdsource.org/gbbc.

There are still a few hours to head out and find those last few species. The count ends tonight at midnight, but reports from this weekend can be submitted through the end of the month. I look forward to seeing how many species-and checklists-we can see from Washington before this is all over!
