In the winter, we get only the Anna's Hummingbirds. Anna's breed very early
in the season. I suspect what's happening is that:

(a) males are very involved in their display territories right now. At
Marymoor Park, a male has set up southwest of the windmill. He's there
every day, doing his display loop flights, hoping to attract females to mate
with.

(b) females are probably building nests, or even sitting on nests with eggs.

(c) we've had quite a bit of warm weather, so flowers are opening and bugs
are hatching/emerging

As a result, the hummingbirds are not spending as much time at feeders. They
have more alternative food supplies, they have lower energy needs (due to
the warm weather), and they're busy with breeding activities.

Soon enough, the Rufous Hummingbirds will return from the south...
