Hello All,

I spent a wonderful day yesterday in Lincoln County with my son, Joshua. The
highlights began early with an American Ketrel chasing a Merlin on Rocklyn
Rd east of Davenport. Then a Bewick's Wren (not easy in Lincoln County), an
American Tree Sparrow, and a Hairy Woodpecker showed themselves in an
isolated Aspen grove out in the middle of sagebrush country on Telford Rd.
The little settlement of Lincoln itself located right on the Columbia River
provided a Canyon Wren and on nearby Sterling Valley Rd, I was pleased to
find two Golden Eagles and in one place, a Brown Creeper, 3 nuthatches,
Clark's Nutcrackers, Steller's Jay, Western Bluebird, and Pileated
Woodpecker, (another tough bird for Lincoln County).

Hawk Creek campground produced a nice variety of ducks and the resident pair
of Dippers.

Seven Bays Marina yielded 8 Barrow's Goldeneyes, Herring Gull, and Horned
Grebe.

Later in the day, Detour Rd between Reardan and Davenport provided good
looks at a Prairie Falcon and an imm Snowy Owl. On Cottonwood Creek Rd, a
Short Eared Owl perched on a fencepost at dusk. We closed out the day by
descending into Hawk Creek Canyon, where we heard only a Western Screech and
N Saw Whet Owl.

All in all, a pretty good day.
