A few spring sightings from yesterday to go with this morning's snow flakes:

300 Sandhill Cranes reported by Dave Goeke at Scooteney Reservoir in N Franklin County. I did not see or hear any late in the day west of Othello.

One Say's Phoebe returned to the Columbia NWR shop where they nest every year.

15 Dunlin at Royal Slough in Columbia NWR. There is still a surprising amount of frozen water even after last weekend's warmer windy condition.

I also saw 16+ male Tricolored Blackbirds near the Para Ponds outside Othello in a quick look. Now is a good time to find them at this location and search for a Rusty Blackbird that continues to evade my searches. But please pull off the road and not block private access. Check where cattle are being fed.
