I counted quite a few wigeons about 9 years ago at Greenlake and at a couple
of spots at Lake Washington and at that time I came up with an average of 1
european male per about 50 american males but was unable to distingush the
females to species so I left them out of the counts. In a small amount of
counting elsewhere in the state I saw a smaller percentage of euro's - so
statewide the percentage may well have been closer to 1% european. I don't
remember the number of apparent hybrids, but I noted at least one or 2 that
were intermediate in plumage.

Can anyone distinguish the females by plumage or call?
