Feb 24, 2007. Interesting bird reports for Spokane Co include:

A SNOWY OWL Feb 23 north of Medical Lake along Brooks Road, about 1 mile
south of Hwy 2. This is the first for the year!

A very early OSPREY Feb 21 about 10 miles north of Spokane along hwy 395.
The observer is sure it was not a Bald Eagle in a weird plumage. Last year
they arrived April 2. Are Osprey now wintering in eastern Washington??

A RED-NECKED GREBE and HORNED GREBE was on the Spokane River above 9-mile
dam (at Duck Corner) Feb 22. Last year Red-neck Grebes arrived in late
March.

The Deer Park GYRFALCON has not been reported lately, but I did receive a
photo that looks good, although I don't claim to be an expert.

The possible Kingbird was not see again so will have to be a mystery bird.

A SNOW GOOSE has been irregular at Peone Prairie.

A few WESTERN BLUEBIRDS are back! At least 2 were near Cheney Feb 18. One
was at Deep Creek Feb 21. They are early too.

VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were back at the confluence of the Spokane River Feb
18. This sure seems to be their favorite arrival & departure spot.

Is anybody else noticing amazingly early birds?

The county group is up to 115 species, including Meadowlark & Lesser Scaup.

Thanks for all the reports.
