The following birds were seen by Wayne Weber on February
23, 2007 at Tennant Lake, near Ferndale, from about 3:00
to 4:30 PM. The rather strong south wind made it difficult
to observe landbirds.

The outstanding observation was 3 species of swallows,
which were first observed here by Jim Duemmel the
previous day (February 22). I suspect they may have arrived
during mild weather the previous week. Although I
positively identified only one VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW,
there may have been more present among swallows that were
foraging fairly high above the lake.

Birds seen (in taxonomic order):

Trumpeter Swan 1
Mallard 4
Ring-necked Duck 12
Lesser Scaup 4
Bufflehead 30
