Hi Tweets,

Today I spent a few hours looking for a few 'hard-to-get' Grant County
birds.
The EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES, found during the Christmas Bird Count off of
Hiawatha Road, were a cinch and there were 10 birds there this morning.
Later in the day I located 5 more EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES in the Moses Lake
City Limits off of Stratford Road. These city birds were more attuned to
traffic and posed well for many photos.
I spent a good bit of time along Road 7 NE viewing huge flocks of
blackbirds for something different. I was rewarded with one TRICOLORED
BLACKBIRD and one RUSTY BLACKBIRD among the thousands of Red-wing and
Brewers BB. Also present were a dozen or so Yellow-headed Black-birds and
about the same numbers of Brown-headed Cowbird.
A single SNOWY OWL was located along 'K' Road SE. This is a different bird
than the immature found earlier in the same general area. This one being an
adult male.
DUNLIN were evident at Neppel Landing as they continue to winter over in
Moses Lake. Two GREATER YELLOWLEGS were located at McCosh Park, but the
Long-billed Dowitchers seem to have moved on.
All in all it was a good start to the year 2007.

Cheers
