Tweeters,
I stopped by the mouth of the Cedar River to look for the Slaty-backed Gull between 12:30 and 1 PM today. There were only about 100 gulls, including 3 Westerns, but no Glaucous or Slaty-backed. It was pouring rain and the wind was howling. There were two adult Bald Eagles sitting on part of the sand bars, one on a stump maybe four inches wide and four inches above the water. They have got to be the saddest, most bedraggled, most pathetic-looking eagles I have ever seen! Then I realized that the Bald Eagles were saying the same thing about me, as I stood peering into a scope in the rain and wind, still dressed in coat and tie en route back from a meeting!
