Tweets,

Today was a good day to stay inside at the computer compiling the Seattle CBC reports. There are often surprises when you get to look at all the data. Two species were not noted in our original tally, an Orange-Crowned Warbler on Capitol Hill and a Brown-headed Cowbird on Mercer Island. However, I can't find any report of a Thayer's Gull. Perhaps I just glossed over it at the tally, assuming one would have been seen. If you were on the Seattle CBC and saw a Thayer's please let me know. Or, if you've seen one in the circle during count week (Dec. 27 through today). Thus, our total is a new record high count at 128.

The special rarities have been well documented: a Red-naped Sapsucker in the wooded swamp at the north edge of North Seattle CC by Becky and Bob Benton; a Pine Grosbeak at Cooper Elementary School in the Delridge neighborhood, and the Common Redpoll just north of the pond north of West Point along the north beach in Discovery Park, which was seen again December 31. Other nice finds include a Redhead at Carillion Point in Kirkland, a Clark's Grebe at Restoration Point, Bainbridge Island, and a flock of five very late Ancient Murrelets off Restoration Point, seen again January 1.
