Garrett MacDonald and I saw the King Eider at Semiahmoo Spit around noon
today. It appears to have acquired a bit more white along the flanks and
sides of the rump since I first saw it. There was also a basic adult
Yellow-billed Loon seeking shelter along with several Common Loons in the
boat enclosure. The wind was very strong up there.

We had searched in the morning for the Whooper Swan, with no success. A
number of others stood vigilant longer than we did, but there were no
reports until, from what I gather, it was reported in the late afternoon by
a birder from Florida. That report was from the Hwy 9 pulloff, original
location.

In the afternoon we scoped gulls from the Cedar River mouth. No
Slaty-backed, but the 2nd cycle Glaucous Gull made an appearance along with
a 1W and an adult Glaucous x Glaucous-winged Gull hybrid.

Cheers,
