Hello All,
County listing and sharing what is found is one aspect of birding that I
assume gets folks out into the field on top of all the other reasons to go
out birding. The notion that county listing is somehow debilitating and
boring is a personal opinion and yet is no doubt greatly enjoyed by many
others on this list. We enjoy it because county listing gets folks out and
causes areas to be visited that normally are not birded here in sparsely
birded southeastern Washington. We have learned allot about species
distribution and migratory corridors along the western face of the Blues as
a result of looking for birds to add to the county list. We have been
greatly educated about what birds are in other counties by what shows up on
county lists shared on this list server. County listing is not deep science
and was never meant to be, yet it is still educational and interesting if
you are looking for spatial trends or species distribution cues on a
regional basis.
