Subject: [Tweeters] County Year Lists-- do we really need this stuff?

Others may be the more appropriate persons to respond as I believe this has
just been a misunderstanding. Tracking some county lists happened last year
but the info was not channeled through Tweeters. Those newly recruited to
the effort may not have realized this. I believe they were just looking for
input to do their task.

The cumulative info was quite interesting with percentages and overall state
sightings compiled. Data was gleaned from Tweeters postings. Even with
only a few counties tracked last year, the spreadsheet created was a wealth
of info as to where species occurred. Over time the compilation will become
a more useful resource.

The encouragement to post sightings of unusual species in any county is
still a worthwhile thing to encourage as it will help these compilers and
will broaden everyone's understanding of species' distribution. That is
appropriate to Tweeters.

Some areas are creating their own listserve groups to share local sightings.
BirdYak and LCBirds are Yahoo groups (not on birdingonthe.net) and people
who post there usually copy to Tweeters and Inland Birders when appropriate.
