Dear Tweeters,

I had no luck finding the immature Emperor Goose that
was reported from south end Bradshaw Road (near Mount
Vernon, Skagit County) today. I did not see the
Greater White-fronted Geese there, or any other
species of goose. However, there were lots of swans
and ducks. There was also a GYRFALCON (!) and at least
one Peregrine Falcon.

By the way, the Emperor Goose reported yesterday would
be the first county record for Skagit.

At Fir Island Game Range I ran into Howard Armstrong,
and we found quite a few of the specialties. The
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was several fields down from the
boat launch parking area. Five russet PINE GROSBEAKS
were feeding on alder buds there, too. Right in the
boat launch parking area, we found the NORTHERN
WATERTHRUSH. It was walking along between the two
plank footbridges, not thirty yards from the toilets.
I also heard at least one COMMON REDPOLL while I stood
in the parking area, but did not see it. I think I
heard an American Goldfinch, too. Howard had seen a
Goldfinch there a few days before; there were small
flocks of Pine Siskins present as well.
