Rachel:

Personally, I wince more or less equally at "Stellar" and "greivous." But
aren't these fine points? It wasn't all that many years ago I was calling
those entertaining nut-eaters Blue Jays!

My impression from your posts is that you are a stickler for spelling and
the niceties, and I applaud and appreciate that. I'm a neurotic about spelling
myself. But I know from my own in-box and Tweeters (not to mention the
workplace) that skill and care with language vary tremendously. It fascinates me
how many folks apparently do not look back at what they crafted before they
hit "Send."

On the other hand, while I'd prefer everything including my own output be
non pareil, I blunder not uncommonly (more so as the night goes on!). More
importantly, I am very attuned to the idea there are timid sorts whose offerings
I would enjoy who might find just one more criticism or burden all they need
to revert to their cave. Let them have their Stellar. (Truthfully, I was
wincing for wrong reason, thinking the correct spelling was Stellar's! - and I
notice that Hoffmann ('55) has it as "Steller." Like you said . . .)
