Hi all,

CONGRATULATIONS YardBirdRace winners and participants! Hooray for birders and birding, a sport that actually has an underlying noble purpose and only happens to be more fun than kicking a ball around or climbing on steep rocks and ending up in the hospital with a head injury!

With this in mind, the website that gives recognition to the amazing YARDBIRDRACERS of 2006 is back up & running. Sorry we were down at the most critical time but now the site has one hundred times the bandwidth and now can withstand people actually going to it.

The 2006 SCOREBOARD, which is still subject to more updates and possible corrections and may still have omissions (please notify me if you see one) is at:

http://www.ednewbold.com/yardbird.htm

and the current press release, which may also need work in places and which I will work on more tonight is at

http://www.ednewbold.com/links.htm

Corrections & suggestions about wording or anything else are always welcome

(Participants who didn?t get an email about prizes should contact me, participants who have not yet chosen a prize are more than welcome to.)

As if to put us on notice to start our 2007 yardlist, a FOX SPARROW spent the morning scratching around in the back yard here!

PS As one participant noted in her final update as a reason for participating, the YardBirdRace is indeed intended to promote not only birding but good backyard habitat & help herald the end of America?s fascination with boring chemical lawns. Sometimes this is forgotten in the hustle to see new birds from the yard.

Thanks to all, Ed Newbold residential Beacon Hill ednewbold1 at yahoo.com
