I have also heard that dryer lint holds a lot of water if it gets wet and thus could be bad in terms of thermoregulation particularly for species that nest in open-cup nests. Also, if you use drier sheets the added smell from the fabric softener could be an additional cue to inquisitive predators? Just my thoughts on this...nothing scientific.
