[Sorry, I don't have the usual introductory language for this e-mail, will have it next time I post the transcription; the Washington Bird Box telephone number is 206-281-9172. MK]

Tuesday, January 9, 2007, 9:42 a.m.: Michael Hobbs, 425-869-2370; this morning at 9:30 the WHOOPER SWAN is still exactly where it was described yesterday evening; listen to the following message in the Bird Box to find the instructions. Good luck!

Monday, January 8, 2007, 5:58 pm: Howard Wilson, Bellevue, today, Monday the 8th, at 3:30 pm, my wife and I found the WHOOPER SWAN at the location previously described in Skagit County, to the east of the Pioneer Hwy, .8 mi north of the intersection with Mill Town Rd; there's a pull-off there and a flat wooden bridge over a canal running along the highway; the bird was in a group of about 100 Trumpeter Swans; there were two additional swan groupings in that field totaling approximately 75-100 birds. Good luck!

Saturday, January 6, 2007, 3:21 pm: Gary Bletch, we're looking at the WHOOPER SWAN just south of Conway in Skagit County; take Pioneer Hwy, go south of Conway 'til you get to a private lane called "Swanson's Private Road"; the Whooper Swan is with a flock of appox. 20 Trumpeter Swans, it's pretty close to the road and is easy to see.

Saturday, January 6, 2007, 2:10 pm: Carol Riddell, reporting the WHOOPER SWAN, following up on the earlier report; this is on Pioneer Highway, closer to Conway than to Stanwood; we're about 1/4 to 1/2 mile south of Mill Town on a private lane with a yellow private lane sign [message cut off]

Saturday, January 6, 2007, 11:38 am: Alan Knue, 206-619-6584; Alan Grenin (sp?) and I are north of Stanwood on the Pioneer Hwy, the corner of Pioneer Hwy and Swanson's Private Lane; small group of swans here, we have the WHOOPER SWAN in our telescope views; again it's on Pioneer Hwy just south of Mill Creek pretty close to where _____________ saw it a few days ago. Good luck, good birding.

January 4, 2007, 8:39 pm, Kevin Aanerud, 206-523-6195; reporting a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK seen from the 64th St side of the Kent Ponds; first flushed from the northern-most pond and it flew into the back of the animal shelter area where the dense hardwoods are; also in the area were three SCRUB-JAYS; seen also at the Cedar River mouth in Renton today was a PALM WARBLER which has been seen by numbers of other people, but it hadn't been seen for a while so I thought I would report it, along with a SNOW BUNTING flying over the sand bar there. That is all.

January 4, 2007, 7:15 pm: Tom Aversa birding today in Skagit County; had a WHOOPER SWAN in southern Skagit County today on the Old Pacific Hwy and Mill Town Rd, a flock of swans and a WHOOPER SWAN; also PINE GROSBEAK and NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH still at the Game Range.

January 2, 2007, 1:49 pm: Charlie Wright, today birding with Garrett MacDonald; we have the KING EIDER at the usual spot on the ____________; it was very windy today; there was also a YELLOW-BILLED LOON with several Common Loons inside of the marina; good luck and good birding.

January 1, 2007, 9:13 am: Kraig Kemper, 206-789-9255; in Whatcom County at Drayton Harbor, Semiahmoo Spit, the KING EIDER was relocated this morning at 7:45 am just 30-40 feet offshore where the slope at the bar southwest end returns to land. Good luck and good birding.
