Hello Murray,
Ed Newbold coordinates the yard list "competition," but what we're trying to
do with counties and eBird isn't related. I think Ed just wants to know how
many species are on your yard list for the year. What we're doing is keeping
track of every species seen in an entire county. With eBird we can go even
further, keeping track of each species through the season.

I will be using eBird to keep track of all species reported in Pierce County
this year. Please consider entering your data for this year into eBird! It's
a very easy way to keep your own personal records by county, year, month,
etc., as well as contributing to the enormously growing database which has
already produced some useful results for analysts. Locations can be as
general as Pierce County or as specific as your backyard. If you have any
questions, feel free to contact me. Alternatively, you could send species
reports to me or to Tweeters and I'll enter the data.

You can follow along as the list grows through the "View and Explore Data"
tab. http://tinyurl.com/y6csen

Hi! Doesn't Ed Newbold do a Yard Bird Race by counties? I was under the
impression that eBird also collected the same sort of data. We've kept a yard
bird list since 1981--where should our data go? I have enjoyed the Yard Bird
Race, seeing the results of all the reporters. Could you -- or have you --
and the Yard Bird Race joined forces? or have I misunderstood the posting?
Sincerely, Murray

Hello, Charlie--thanks for reply. I'm still confused about the mechanics of
ebird posting but just point me in the right direction--it's a great idea.
