Subject: [Tweeters] Eurasian Collared-Doves in Central Wash.

Hi Tweeters,

During the summer of 2006 Eurasian Collared-Doves (EUCD) nested in
Desert Aire, in Grant County on the east side of the Columbia River
ten miles north of the Vernita Bridge. In November as many as 12
were visiting a feeder in Desert Aire.

Yakima County's first EUCDs were found in Moxee, five miles east of
Yakima, toward the end of March 2006. One was found in Selah, just
north of Yakima, on Dec. 15, 2006, and was seen the next day on our
CBC. On Jan. 6, 2007, nine were seen in Moxee.

One visited my yard yesterday afternoon, though it didn't stay long
enough for photos. (My 99th yard bird.)

It may be that Eurasian Collared-Doves will soon become common in
Washington. Lets hope they don't end up like starlings.
