Hi Tweets:
Joe and Liz Miles live by Soos Creek which is in the highlands east of Kent,
WA. They lead owl prowls in the area which people can register for through
the City of Kent. On Sat night, Jan 6, 2007 their full group saw and heard
2 Grt-horned Owls, and one SCREECH OWL along Soos Creek. Earlier that night
Joe and Liz saw two Barn Owls flying over their upper field.
Joe and Liz are members of Friends of Soos Creek, and they feed the birds.
Their house is at 500 ft elevation. This year for the first time they got
two ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS! that have over-wintered at that high elevation.
The hummers are keeping them busy at the sugar-water feeder. Joe rigged up
a light to keep the solution from freezing, but it still freezes when the
temps get down to the teens like they have been. Liz is thinking of
covering the feeder w/ a wool sock to help keep it warm.
