Since before Christmas we?ve had four Varied thrushes (three females and one
male) on a daily basis, along with a Northern Flicker, a Downy along with a
Hairy Woodpecker, a Fox sparrow, Spotted towhee, and more infrequently one
to two Ruby crowned and Golden crowned kinglets. All share a common
interest in a horizontally placed suet feeder along with the always present
Red breasted nuthatches. The other regulars (Juncos, Chestnut-backed and
Black-capped chickadees) focus on the seed feeders while sneaking into the
suet when a vacancy occurs. Former regulars ? a male and female Pileated
pair now appear only rarely.
