Subject: [Tweeters] 2007 WA County Year-list compilation information

Hi all -
As you may have noticed on these lists, for 2007 there is an effort
underway to compile county year lists for all 39 Washington counties.
This was inspired by something similar folks have been doing in Idaho
for a while, and initiated last year on a smaller scale. These are
collaborative efforts, with each tally representing the collective
sightings for a county rather than any one individual's list. I think
it will be interesting to see how all this fits together into a
year-long picture of WA birds.

The way we've set things up, each county will have a point-person
who acts as compiler for that county. If you have any sightings you'd
like to contribute to the effort, please contact that compiler with
details. I'll include a list at the bottom of this message of the
county compilers we have lined up so far. The list is also available
at the following web-page: www.wos.org/CountyList.htm . This list
will be updated as we find more compilers to fill in the gaps.

For the heavily birded counties, it isn't really necessary to share
every sighting -- just the rarer ones are probably fine. But for the
counties where we see few reports on Tweeters, it may be helpful to
send entire trip lists along to the compiler.

I've recruited compilers of these lists for 29 counties, and am
hoping we'll find 10 more compilers willing to keep track of
sightings for the following. If you are interested in taking on the
compiling work for any of the following counties, please contact me --
Western WA: Mason, San Juan
Eastern WA: Chelan, Columbia, Ferry, Garfield, Kittitas, Klickitat,
Lincoln, Stevens.

In addition, we'd like to make the ongoing results of this available
on-line to share with anyone who is interested. Unfortunately, while
we've found webspace we lack anyone who knows how to create webpages.
If you'd like to offer to help set up the web-presence of this, just
say the word --

Finally, here's a list of the contact info for the compilers we've
got lined up so far -- thanks all!
