The following interesting birds have been reported in Spokane County
recently, although a prolonged cold spell has reduced birding activity.

A BARRED OWL was calling on Mt Spokane Jan 15.
3 BLUE JAYS are finally more regular at my Cheney feeder. Let me know if
you want to try for them.
A few EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES are still in Fairfield sometimes near the
elevators.
Two MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were near the Spokane River Jan 15.
Some general impressions about this winter:
PINE GROSBEAK numbers are high.
COMMON REDPOLLS are present in small numbers, but are hard to find.
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were late in arriving, but are here in good numbers.
PINE SISKINS are almost rare.
EVENING GROSBEAKS have only been reported from one feeder(north of Spokane).

SNOWY OWLS have not been confirmed in Spokane Co in 2007, but are present in
Lincoln Co in the Reardan/Davenport area.
No CLARK'S NUTCRACKERS or WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS have been reported this
winter.

Good Birding,
CraigCorder
