A sign that icy winter may yet yield to spring: a glance out my window this morning at the suet- and sunflower-seed-filled feeders showed the usual crowd of about 20 cheeping Bushtits fluttering about, and then suddenly in the midst of them a Townsend's Warbler! Perhaps a common sight to many, but a first for me, and a ray of sunshine after all this freezing weather.
